Journal Therapy Sessions.

One of the main responsibilities of journal therapists is to help clients and patients identify emotions and experiences that they may have had, as well as recognizing how they perceive these emotions and experiences.

They do this by:

• Holding private sessions with clients and patients to assess whether they are in a condition to write.

• Providing guidance to clients and patients on how to approach writing about experiences and emotions.

• Encouraging patients and clients to authentically express themselves through their writing.

• Creating a suitable and safe-feeling physical environment for patients to express the feelings that come up as a result of their writing.

• Examine and evaluate journal exercises written by their clients (if the client is happy to share their exact journal entries) as well as the responses of the client to their writings.

*******Depending on the nature of the situation, collaborating with other healthcare practitioners to continue support.
